Brad Sugden Wx, LLC is owned and operated by Michigan native Brad Sugden. I studied Meteorology at Central Michigan University and have experience in all five major markets in Michigan (Detroit, Flint, Lansing, Grand Rapids and Northern Michigan). The experience from those markets allows me to bring people the information they need, when they need it, and HOW they need it. I provide a platform few meteorologists in the state can, and even fewer meteorologists certified by the American Meteorological Society are able to. Here, local businesses have the opportunity to expand their marketing efforts and branding through partnerships and branded content from a TRUSTED source.
Hello! I'm Brad Sugden. I've had a passion for weather ever since I was little watching storms come through the metro Detroit area. Instead of watching Saturday morning cartoons, I was watching The Weather Channel. Despite my interest in weather, I wanted to be an architect until I volunteered to go to the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina to gut homes.
In talking with local residents, I heard countless stories of lack of information. From there on out my passion was being the communicator for the information they needed. I graduated from Central Michigan University and started my TV career. Markets I've worked in included South Dakota, Utah, West Virginia, Omaha, Flint, Lansing, and Grand Rapids.
Like everything, TV changed a lot and it was no longer satisfying me. I was senior meteorologist twice, won nearly a dozen awards, earned my Certified Broadcast Meteorologist seal from the American Meteorological Society, and more. I accomplished a lot. TV is not for work life balance. It was time for something new.
After departing news, I am now leaning into what I love in a way that will not only help me enjoy it again, but help those in need and get back to my roots of why I started doing this in the first place.
In addition to starting my business and working a full-time "normal job," I am also volunteering with the Untied Cajun Navy to provide life saving forecast information for recovery in disaster areas.
I have a wonderful boyfriend, great family and friends, and sweet / wild doggo named Echo. Echo's full name is Echo Beau which is taken from the term Bow Echo thunderstorm.
As many have done, you will see me out in our great state! I love the outdoors, camping, hiking, food, video games, board games, and community events.
